Dear Students & Instructors

Hello! Welcome to another year at University, and to this years British Student Taekwondo Federation!

As your new BSTF president I would like to introduce myself to all of you: My name is Master Na, Young Jip. Currently I am studying a masters degree in Physical activity and Health Promotion at Loughborough Uni and I’ve been in England since 2001. Since March 2004 I am 5th Dan WTF Taekwondo: I started training Taekwondo at a young age of only 4 years, achieving 1st poom in 1989, and 4th Dan in 1996.

Some of my achievements in Taekwondo include receiving a citation from WTF (Un Yong Kim) and Kukkikwon, taking the Kukkikwon 2001 International Instructor course at which time I was Koreas youngest master, receiving the American Governments Presidential Sports Award, and being a member of Korean Tigers Display team.

Back in Korea, I studied in sports science at Korean National University Physical Education, which is the best uni for sport.

Students are a nations future, …I mean to say…, likes root of a tree… its foundations. I believe that British students who train Taekwondo are important for the future standard of British Tekwondo. Thus, the BSTF have a great role in the future of Taekwondo in GB.

This year I want to help the BSTF to develop more – not only to improve skills and standards of our members but also knowledge of Taekwondo and understanding of Taekwondo etiquette.

Working closely with Master Suh and other members of the BSTF executive, I want to make more opportunities for all students throughout the UK to participate in events which provide the highest possible level of instruction – so that they can fully discover Taekwondo, and take the opportunity to meet students sharing this interest from other university clubs.

In summer next year I want senior students to make the first BSTF Korea Trip. This will not only improve their skill but give them also experience of Korean culture.

Finally –

To those of you starting Taekwondo this year - Train Hard!!!!!

To more senior members – Enjoy the class!!! Assist you instructor

And to those competitors among you – Don’t be arrogant: Train Hard !!!!!

Its time to train again !!… It's cold weather but better for training!!

I look forward to seeing all of you at all our seminars, fighting camps and competitions. I really want to progress the BSTF and will do my best only for all of you.

Master Na, Y.J
