The BSTF gets sporadic enquiries as to why ITF Taekwondo is not represented, as well as receiving requests to contact the ITF committee representatives. Unfortunately, the ITF side of the BSTF has become defunct over the past few years. This is a basic summary of why we believe this has happened and a call to arms to any avid ITF Taekwondo clubs who will hopefully spark the ITF side into action once again.

ITF committee members of the BSTF have come and gone, and there are relatively very few university ITF clubs that we are aware of. Furthermore, we are sure there are many more ITF clubs in university's that are affiliated with larger non-student associations and, therefore, tend to compete at their competitions. In general, university WTF clubs are independent, whereas ITF clubs tend to be franchises of larger ITF clubs (although, this does happen with WTF clubs as well). These larger ITF clubs are often less interested in student Taekwondo as they have their own association competitions, and many of their members can not participate in student Taekwondo events. As such, there has been a seeming lack of will among university ITF instructors or committees to organise events with each other.

The WTF side of the BSTF has always tried to get involved and be open to ITF clubs in order to accommodate and fill the gap, and are always willing to work with ITF members who wish to serve as BSTF committee for those clubs. Unfortunately, those persons that have stepped forward often leave when they feel they can get little done with other ITF universities. In response to the often asked question "why does the WTF side of the BSTF not accommodate ITF clubs", the standard answer is that they shouldn't have to. The reason for this is that we would wish that enough ITF clubs would field committee members to organise and start ITF events and competitions. Of course, ITF clubs are always welcome to WTF events (as long as they are fully insured/abide by WTF rules) as we would hope that any ITF event organised would also be open to WTF members.
