BSTF Committee 2009/10
President: Dr Michelle Chafer, Bristol
Michelle has been involved with student Taekwondo for many years, as instructor, BSTF committee member, and in an official capacity as medical advisor. Michelle is currently a 3rd Dan in WTF Taekwondo.
Head Coach: Vacant
Master Suh Ki Young was re-elected to the role of Head Coach at the BSTF AGM 2009. His tragic passing in February 2010 means the position is currently vacant.
Master Suh was a world renowned Taekwondo coach and practitioner, having served as head coach for the Pan-American Olympic Team as well as special instructor for the Columbian Special Police Branch. He was a 7th Dan Master in WTF Taekwondo, as well as an International Representative for the Kukkikwon. The BSTF were extremely lucky to have Master Suh as Head Coach for the last few years.
Vice-President: Colin West, Nottingham University
Colin has served the BSTF as a committee member for two years and is also an instructor at Nottingham University Taekwondo Club. Colin is currently a 3rd Dan in WTF Taekwondo.
Treasurer: Trevor Page, Bucks New University
Trevor has enjoyed a long involvement with the BSTF serving as Treasurer and Financial Officer for much of that time. Trevor is currently a 2nd Dan in WTF Taekwondo and an instructor at Bucks New University.
Secretary: Mehdi Mirza, Oxford Brookes
Communiations Officer: David Honey, University of Southampton
Student Rep: Bekie Hodge, University of West England (UWE)
Student Rep: Michael Nathan-Pepple, Kingston University
The BSTF committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) where each member club carries a vote. All clubs are encouraged to send members to represent their university at the AGM. If you have enjoyed previous BSTF events and would like to help, consider putting yourself forward for a committee position at the next AGM.
